Found this article on Simplicitys Rankings Compared to Others, Check it out. I think there F.O.S. But thats just my opinion, I can see the differance. http://www.popularmechanics.com/home_improvement/gardening/1273661.html?page=5&c=y

Well I guess if all you want to do is cut grass they may have a point, maybe? But if they start looking at plowing, tilling, blowing snow, pushing snow, and everything we want our trator to do . It's going to be a whole different story. My opinion on the matter. I didn't know that there were anything other than die hard simp. people on this site.

Should have compared apples to apples. What's the deal testing JD LX277, Kubota T1760A-48 and a Cub 2176 with a Regent. Looking at price alone these bozos should have brought in the Broadmoor. The Regent clearly beat the competition it was intended to go head-to-head with: "inexpensive" Crapsman and Husky, and was rated better than its step-brother Snapper. But put a Broadmoor or Conquest in the mix and who knows????

The only way to beat the cut of the simplicity was was to get a biggger deere. Also I like their negatives
quote:
Unfortunately, the deflector fits the deck a bit too precisely, which makes the deflector's installation quite difficult. Secondly, the deck is equipped with a threaded adjustment bar that allows a homeowner to fine-tune the cutting height beyond what the height-adjustment lever makes available. Our testers were divided on whether that was necessary
Less grass to can get caught in a tight deflector and how often to you remove it. Secondly I like the screw adjustment, try to fine tune that deere that easily.

It was obviousley not a fair test. The title is Clean Cut and there comparing engines and comparing all other features but the actual cut of the tractor. Like gwiseman said they should compare apples to apples. They must be pro deere or they have a deere in there pocket. Actually upsets me when I see this kind of stuff where they base stuff on lies or who and not what they know.

All of us know better and that is why I don't use those kind of reviews in my decision making. I don't even trust consumer reports.

Very interesting. All that from a site that is propagating spyware. That little guy running around asking you to click on him is trouble. Its kind of like comparing a piper club to an F-16. They are both airplanes, and they both fly, but I'll put my money on the F-16 in a dogfight anytime.

You all have to remember, these magazines that rate and promote this stuff rely on their advertising to be profitable. Don't you think they would be a tad bit biased if Deere did(and I'm sure they do) a lot of advertiseing in these typres of litariture. It's not about cut quality or durability. Merely dollars and cents.

Bet you all didn't notice that you all were reading a three year old article. Times change.

I asked this salesman at a home and garden show on Sunday if his $2600 JD was a riding mower or a garden tractor? He said it was a garden tractor. I said what attachments could I use on it? He showed me all these pull behind things like a garden cart, vacuum leaf picker and a lawn sweeper. I said where is the roto tiller? He said the "tractor" could not run one. I said so it IS a riding mower. He said I guess so. LOL Dan

I think they are F.O.S. too.:(! The Simplicitys still use steel hoods on their tractors. The overall quality on their machines is superior to most other brands out there. The Deeres are using alot of plastic on their machines which does not appeal to me at all. That's why I ended my subscription with Popular Mechanics. They always seem to be bias towards Simplicity.

I would like to know who died and made "ROY BERENDSOHN" The almighty god of grass cutting. Consumer reports SUCKS! A few years back I was car shopping and picked up a consumer reports. Can any tell me why they figure a 6.5 cubic foot trunk in a Ford taraus is cramped, tight and small and 6.5 cubic foot trunk in a Toyota Camery is large, spacious, and roomy! In there eyes all Toyotas are the best and any thing else is trash. I think its a joke! Simplicity is a ok in my book! The should have compared the JD x495, siplicity Legacy, Cub 3235, Toro 5XI and I would read it!

A liitle story here that reminds me just how good of quality they really are. I have a couple customers that come in my store here and purchse parts from me. They are lawmower repair mechanics. They have a yard full of everything garden tractors you can emagine, Mostly Junk, Yes there are some deeres there to. The one guy says that he thinks that the deere is the better quality tractor. So I asked him how many Simplicitys or AC's he had. His answer NONE. Not a single one. I asked him why he thaught as to why there weren't any, and all he could says is he didn't know. I just had to say it. BECAUSE THERE THE BEST TRACTORS OUT THERE!!! LOL

Well, I had a sears garden tractor. Blew the trans while cutting grass. No support, so I took it back and spent the money on the MTD Garden tractor. 3 years in it was costing 20 bucks evrytime i cut the grass because of belts and parts. I know own a Legacy. 5 years in a NO problems. I love it. John deere/kabota was to expensive and not american made. Just my 2 cents.... Ron

I know in the Febuary edition of PM (should be online soon) That they rated lawn tractors again. I never read it but was told that Murray was rated #1 and Craftsman was last, and the John Deere was second to last. The pricing was up to $1700 or something in that price range. I cut the lawn of an older man who has an acre on his 5 speed craftsman, He also read the article and was quite surprised by the results. For the past year he has been talking of getting a hydrostatic tractor. I am trying to get him to get a Simplicity Regent with hydrostatic drive. I have already sold him on the Simplicity cut I am now trying to get him to fork over the extra money for a superior product. As of yesterday, he is still thinking of it.

Iv'e been mowing with my 1969 Landlord 2210 for 15 years and the only thing I have done to it is replace a pulley and an occasional belt Plus Normal Maintenance. That is what sold me, I had Craftsman, Everytime I mowed with it it ate a belt or threw it off, 2-Monkey Wards Gilson Versions, Old 68 & 69 Decent Tractors Still have 1 with the briggs 12hp cast engine, Case 446 blew engine & give me whiplash everytime I mowed with it, Had it 6 months, Never owned a deere but have mowed with 1 years ago. But I also look at peoples yards that mow with the differant brands and they do not do a real good job mowing compared to a Simplicity. Thats the Differance, Quality and Excellant grass cutting performance compared to others Riding Mowers.
