dav Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 When I got my sickle bar, the bearings behind the driven pulley were junk. One local supplier said they could not get replacements that were sealed bearings. The other local supplier said they have open bearings on the shelf but sealed ones are special order. I am wondering if anyone has installed a grease zerk between the bearings and how it worked. And, if they did put one in, where is the best place. My bar is all apart so I'm not sure what might interfere with a zerk If I put enough grease in it, it shouldnt matter if they are open bearings. maybe But closed bearings won't benefit from extra greasing
ReedS Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 Not only do sealed bearings keep grease in but they also keep junk out as well, not sure what should be there having not had one of these apart. I'd replace them with the bearings that are called for by the mfg.
