Almost there....

After a couple of years of off and on work the rebuild is almost complete. At every step, the vast wealth of knowledge freely shared on this site has been invaluable. Many thanks to all. In just a few short weeks, I will be packing this tractor up to put on a cargo container to take to Zambia where I am sure it will serve me well for a good number of years to come. All that is left to be done is selection of a new seat or reupholstering of the old two-piece. I have not decided yet. Also in the process of things, I damaged the brand new left axle tube seal so it leaks. Oops. I am also tracking down a compatible voltage regulator. The current one is bad. I happened across one for real cheap that is indicated for use on Massey Fergusons like the 25,35,135,202 and so on. It is a 3 post, 12volt positive/negative ground but I do not know if the current cutout is low enough. Does anyone know about the electrical systems on the above MF tractor models? Anyway here she is... It's not so much a restoration as a rebuild. But it looks runs a whole lot better than it did when I got it. I will post a before picture when I find it. I have a mower deck that I have restored but a tiller would probably be more useful to me in the future. I'll be keeping my eyes open for one. Thanks again for being such a great community. WPR

I bought the front tires(4.00-8 3-Rib Front Tractor Tire) from Rustybore's ebay store and the rear tires( 23x8.50-12 Carlisle Compact Tractor Industrial Tire R4) I bought from ME Miller Tires ebay store. I looked for a long time for the rear tires. I did not want real aggressive ag lugs since this tractor will see a lot of varied use including spending quite a bit of time on hard pack. They ride real well on turf as well. I have found those front tires have great traction for turning.

Here is the most complete before shot I have. The previous owner had used it for years to maintain an orange grove. It sure looked bad but I knew there was something good under that dirt and grease. Here is the metal id tag behind the seat

Looks like it had the steering column changed out at one time, short one out and long one installed. The 990232 tractor was made in 1961 and would have had the two-piece seat. http://www.simpletractors.com/made_when/1957-1964.htm

Very nice job on the tractor. Watch out though when the tractor bug bites, you get an infection that causes quite a few changes in your life. Welcome to the club.
