Ok, I am not a welder... but?

Can you believe this purchase on ebay? Two pieces of pipe, two flat pieces of steel cut in a circle (can you buy it as circles), drill holes and weld...clean up and paint. $285, one happy seller. If things keep going like this, fabrication "On Demand" would pay. http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=7144557530

Ya I agree! Who knows the dimensions on these? Blue prints and such? David C. was advertising he was making these a while back. Here's a steel company: http://www.logansteelinc.com/ Here are three articles on this website I've found so far: (I've got to check the archives) http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=46879&SearchTerms=dual+wheel http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=46406&SearchTerms=dual+wheel http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=46731&SearchTerms=dual+wheel

Ok, in this article, UCD (Maynard) went and posted a great picture on these: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=31294&SearchTerms=dual,wheel Also, from what I read, Logon Steel (1-800#) will fabricate things for you.

This article shows the spacers used on the L12 loader setup: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=29860&SearchTerms=dual,wheel

I found the part number which were used for the adapter studs (154373), but these are no longer available. How do people mount these without the adapter studs? Is there a new part number? Do you use longer bolts with some pipe in between? The key thing is that the adapter studs allow the dual wheel adapters to clear the controlled traction bolts.

I've been thinking of try to make a few sets to sell. I'll have to pull mine off to take some measurements. As for the traction controlle bolts, you remove then and go to the hardware store and get two alen head ones. I'm running with out the bolts at the moment, but havent done any hard tractoring with it yet. Onlt pulling it out of the tent and a few laps in the drivway just for fun! lol I'm such a geek!! Elon

Mack, Thanks for the tip. I'm still wondering where you might get the adapter studs (154373) that they used to clear the controlled traction bolts. I'd figure something out if I had a set of these, perhaps some threaded rod, dual/mutliple nuts, etc. I'd like to hear some ideas. The one interesting thing I would see in the duals is one section in my yard where I feel like I might tip over. I assume that with duals, I'd practically be untippable... like the titanic? :) :( ?

Mich I may be way off base.. but I believe the stock traction bolts need to be replaced with a 7/16"-20 x 1/2"long cup point setscrew which will finish flush with the surface. The rear wheel spacers (dual wheel adapters/pn 157415) used with the loaders have threaded holes in the outer flange to accept the standard lugbolts. This would also accept the lugbolts of the outer wheel when used in a dual wheel set up. Ben-B. Thanks. That's a great idea. I've been getting my input from past posts and from the "Simplicity Dual Wheel Kit" mounting instructions. They have a part number for adapter studs and a picture which shows that these studs mount the tire on the axle and expose a new set of threads (there are threads on both sides of these studs) for the adapter assembly 154377. Then a nut (Full Hex 7/16"-20) and Lockwasher (7/16") are used to attach the 154377 to the stud, the nut and lock washer are part #s 717009 and 720006 respectfully. Anyway, thank you for your suggestion.

Ok, this answers my question. Basically there were some spacers on the 990414 loader when using duals. I assume it's the same on the L12 or 990515 loader. This can be done with some extra nuts to clear the traction control bolts...

Mike, One of the reasons folks making a lot of these things have such high prices is because of product liability insurance. Be very careful of making stuff at home and selling it. A lot can be avoided just in your sale wording. But it still bears looking into. Just a thought. But I sure wouldn't hesitate to build my own!!!! Joe

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
