Simplicity314 Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Hi. I picked up one of those ignition modules to replace points and condenser (no, I'm not putting it in by bat. ign. LL). THe instructions say not to put it under the flywheel for easy acceability. I don't care about that. My question is, can it be put under the flywheel and still work? Would the magnet interfere with it?? Thanks in advance, -- Jim
EDS Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 I think it would be cooler mounted on the blower housing. Most guys want to avoid pulling the flywheel so just abandon the points and mount it in an easy to get to place.
jkmustang1 Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 I ditched my points and put it inside points cover. So it cracks on exhaust it runs great.
RayS Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Any of them that I have put on, I put them under the points cover.
Mick14 Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Will these modules work with a battery ignition,? its time for a tune up on my 6 hp broadmoor.
Simplicity314 Posted April 12, 2005 Author Posted April 12, 2005 No, they won't work with battery ignition. It would be nice! I am putting mine on a 7 hp. pull-start. The points cover is under the flywheel. I just wan't it original-looking, and want it out of the way. Pulling flywheels is no big deal--minor inconvenience. The flywheel is off now, and finding the right sized sockets was the longest part of the job. Just want to know if matters or not if it's placed too close to the magnet or coil. Thanks.
