Front wheel bearings Q

Boney

Recommended Posts

Today I went to get new front wheel bearings. I brought the tire/rim, just as I took it off the tractor along with the parts print out with part numbers all to a parts supplier that has in the past been great to me. When I showed them to him he got the bearings and there was no way they would fit, just know way. Now I am woundering if the person that sold me the tractor {not a club memeber} had put or gotten the tractor with non-stock rims on it. My question is, has anyone or does anyone know where I can buy new rims and bearings for a Simplicity 725 ? They do not have to be from simplicity. Thnx for any help.

Herman, I've encountered 2 different types of rims/ bearings for the early tractors. The 1st type found on my early 700 were 3/4" in diameter if memory serves amd the other style were 1/2" in diameter. I should mention that both of these 2 styles aren't bearings but rather greasable bushings. I may have some spares if these are what your looking for.

I remember that someone posted replacement bearings from someone else besides Simplicity. I think they are all the same 700,725 through all B-Series tractors(and Simplicity's). The key items is that rubber bearing cap on the inside tractor side, it keeps dirt out of your bearings. I've been taking wheels off and painting them in this nice weather so I am getting intimate with bearings. If someone has the time to search/post them, I'll put them in my notes... I failed to do that last time.

I dont know if the small tractor uses the same bearings as my Big Ten. I got an aftermarket outer bearing, PHBO 210034 Aaa/B1000-3/4 for $25.29. The inner bearing is a Simplicity only part because of the seal included with it. The number is 154397 for $30.06. The outer bearing race is number 154393 and cost $6.07. Hope this helps.

Boney, here's a little research... I am very sure these are the same for the 725, but I've not had a chance to cross reference. I hope this makes sense. This is the wheel detail showing all the parts:
