KohlerMan Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 I have a briggs 11hp vertical-shaft engine in my lawn mowerB). the problem is, the govener just doesen't seem to do anything. When i put the throttle up, it just runs faster and faster and acts like it will run away, (i don't let it over-revv) And also, when i engage the mower deck it doesn't kick in, it just slows way down. All the linkage is connected and its not rubbing any where. What would be causing this? Any info will be very helpfull, KohlerMan}:)
Mick14 Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Have you read the post on this page regarding governor adjustment ? should contain what you need to know.
EDS Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 I have had similar problems after rebuilding the carb with a time gap between taking it apart and putting it back together. If the throttle shaft is replaced, it is easy to get the governor rod in the wrong hole. There are two holes in the cam so one part can fit different engines. It is also possible to get the throttle shaft in upside down.
