40 year old fuel cap problems.

Recommended Posts

I searched the arcives but came up nuthing to match my problem. The fuel cap on the Big-Ten is showing its age.(40 years) Just wondering if any one else had this happen. If the tank is semi-full on uneven ground or a little ruff, fuel comes out, wets the top of the tank. And no matter how hard ya look at it I can't read the gage.}:) Can ya still get a replacement, and if so how much do they generally cost. Thanks in advance -Paul

i tryied the bottom of the jar trick and it probably would have worked if i didnt break the cap trying to get the old one appart, that being said I got a new one through simplicity was short money.

I fixed mine using a penut butter jar bottom. I think it was Jiff low fat chunky. Used airplane glue and it works great. I just tried to find the search function that lets you get to the archives, can't find it??? Guess I'm getting old and CRS has set in. LOL
