Its a question of length...

I put a NEW belt on my 7116 tonight to start mowing. I bought the belt from a local Amish guy that deals in motors and belts. My question is WHY did Simplicity make belts that fractions-of-inches longer or shorter than a whole number? 78.1" ...why not just 78? Since Im sure these length belts were being produced for other applications.

The long and short of it all is they want a share of the parts market from a customer other than the ocational implement. It's the same w/ Chevy or Ford, there parts don't interchange.

Crapsman is worse, I worked for a repair shop and we avoided fixing them (major repairs) because for alot of their stuff you had to go to them for the parts everything was always a 1/2 in longer or shorter, but they had that revenue stream from the parts year after year.
