I have an Allis 720 with a cckb-ms2733j engine. Is there a replacement engine that works in that tractor or where do I find and overhaul kit. Engine is using a lot of oil and has started knocking. I don't want to blow it up so need advice soon. lnpjoyce

Joyce, there are still parts avaliable threw several sources. A few of the better auto parts shops can order some of the more common parts as well as finding seperate parts on e-bay freqintly. Several of the good machine shops may also be able to get you what you need if they do any machine work on them. If it's knocking now, severe damage is imminant so something needs work soon if you want to salvage the current engine. There are several people here in the club that specialise in this size tractor and this engine. If you need someong to help do the repairs I'm sure we could find help find someone closer to you than I am. As for factory replacement parts, Cummins/Onan truck engines are the current distributor of US onan parts. But they are a bit pricey. For a replacement engines, Small Engine Warehouse, a site sponser, has a 24HP Honda kit that will convert it. They may also have a replacement short block for the Onan. Be prepared to speend something on it as these are not cheap engines to repair. However they are very dependable engines and are still out running by the thousands. I'm sure some other's will offer some advice but the tractor is definately worth fixing. You might try doing a search of the archives on powermax tractor engines and see what all you find. This topic of engine swaps on this tractor has come up several times. Also, welcome to the club, we have a tremendous amount of member knowledge here. Take some time to look around and visit often.

I could not afford a new engine, so I tore into the Onan and found that a lot of the parts were still well within spec. The Engine shop that did the valve job and Honed the Cylinder, said it must have been well taken care of, for its life.I found some pistons and rings on E-Bay and bought another few hundred dollar in parts from the dealer. So I have around 500 to 600 into it, plus my time. I got lucky on the condition of the block and crank. Good luck to you.

I just want to thank everyone who has responded to this thread. I was quite suprised by the response. I have not yet decided on what direction to take but thanks to all the responses I see I do have some options. This tractor is to good a work horse to abandon so I am glad that I will be able to get it up and running again. Still open to more ideas. Thanks to everyone who has responded. Joyce

Hi Joyce, First, Welcome to the Fray! Next, you may want to search the forum archives to see what others have done. Some have repowered w/Honda & others. You should be able to see the pro's & con's to doing so. Some have opted to stay OEM. You also should see the in's/out's or goto's of getting parts & services for these 'work horses'. 8-) Keep us posted on your progress! Glad to help out!! Jim (JP)

I Was Able To Obtain All My Rebuild Parts From Cummins Great Lakes In Oak Creek Wisconsin. My Engine Had The Oil Pump Shaft Snap In Half,I Ended Up Putting New Pistons And Rings In New Rod And Main Brgs, Cam Bearings, Thrust Bearing, Gasket Kit, Carb Rebuild, New Oil Pump, New Points And Condenser,Performed A Valve Job, And Fuel Pump Kit. I Want To Say The Price Was Around $550.00-$600.00 For The Parts I Did The Work Myself.
