or.... Just how cheap can you get? Picked up a Kohler today in a tractor and took the air filter off . What a DANDY! The half the original paper element was nmissing from between the wire mesh and they had wrapped one of those red shop rags around the filter and tied it on with plastic zip ties, then reinstalled and continued using. And people wonder why their equipment don't last. There has to be some sort of award this is worthy of consideration for..................

That doesn't sound too bad. I just bought a 917H to rework and upon tearing down the Kohler KT17 engine found out that someone had made a shim out of a 7Up can to try and take up some of the end play out of the crankshaft. Figure that one out!!

The other day I saw a commercial walk behind which the guy lost the air cleaner top off of it so he used a license plate to hold down the filter.
