Brucep 0 Posted May 26, 2005 I just picked up a 7016 sovereign (1978 MODEL) and the deck on it is not the original, It's a A/C deck. A couple things here. #1, The deck isn't one that lifts with the cable, it's one that requirs the kit that has a bracket and chain that hook to the rocker assembly arm to lift it. I can find the kit and number and picture in the Technical Publications but nothing on where it should atach to the tractor. I was wondering if anyone had a picture or discription of this hook up or even if anyone has built their own bracket and has dimentions. I'm sure I could easily build my own. #2 The height adjustment handles that you turn to raise or lower the deck hit the rocker assembly arm when you turn them, makeing them very difficult to adjust. Has anyone had this same problem? And is it normal? I am able to adjust the height to where I want it but this doesn't seem right. It is presently set at about two and a quarter inchs. I'm pretty sure from my research that you could have ordered this tractor with this deck, so makeing it right shouldn't be that big a deal. So far I have narrowed it down to being a 990414 or a 990502 deck, I think it's the 414 deck because if it was the 502 deck the belts would be to long. I didn't mention that I had set the bail adjustment on it and to get it level one bail is adjusted out quite a bit more than the other makeing it a little more difficult to hitch up then it should be. I figure the deck must be twisted some. But, it did adjust to a level side to side and front higher than back cut and seems to cut pretty nice. I just need to replace the PTO belt cause it slips when I cut at my 2 and a 1/4 inch depth. I allready replaced the spindle belt the old one was streched to the max, as is the PTO belt. There ya have it. Any help would be great! Thanks alot! Bruce
firefoxz1 4 Posted May 26, 2005 Thai should get you the part numbers http://www.simpletractors.com/what_fits/atch_(pg6).htm As far as pictures I can't help you. The deck was probably for a FTD and the adjusters were in farther because they didn't have to worry about the running boards. Link didn't copy right, try this one and go to page 6 http://www.simpletractors.com/what_fits/rotary_lawn_mowers.htm
Brucep 0 Posted June 8, 2005 Thanks for the info sorry it took me so long to get back. I have the part numbers, just not sure on how or axactly where it should connect. You may be right on the height adjustment, I didn't think of that. I posted in the shop talk section. Maybe I'll have some better luck in their finding some info, pictures or even specs on building one. Thanks again!
HubbardRA 19 Posted June 8, 2005 If you can use everything else from the deck and all you need to do is lift it, them make a lift bolt or bracket for the cable to attach to and drill a hole in the deck to attach it. The lever and chain is for a FDT, and will not work properly with an RBT like a 7016. Also, because the deck was designed for a belt clutch and not a cone clutch, the mower drive pulley on the deck is probably too small, making the blades turn faster than normal but also making the belt slip in heavy grass. You may want to replace the drive pulley on the center shaft with the correct size pulley to stop the belt from slipping.
