Electrical Nightmare - Part 2 - The Diode

Recommended Posts

First let me say thanks to everyone who responded in part 1 :). The initial problem was found yesterday. Who would have thought you could buy more than one defective solenoid [:0] Tom (firefox1) -you are absolutely correct about the diode. This was eliminated long before me for whatever reason. Never had to deal with one and didnt think anything of it being on a '74. My parts guy informed me that it also should be there but I would have to do research on it. The AC feedback will reek havoc but he said that it can cause problems with the magnets if its not matched right. My friend recalls the old stator being burned to a crisp when his GF changed the points some years ago. Never thought anything of dead batteries all the time. Blamed it on being old. What is the proper way to match up the diode so as to not make enough electromagnetic force to open a black hole? Its a 250000 series B/S with a 2 wire setup Joe
