Lawn_Slave 2 Posted May 29, 2005 My 4212 H just ate the original drive belt (not too bad for a 16 year old). I ordered a new one (1670853) pre-need from the local dealer. It still hasn't arrived after three weeks. Today, I went to Lowes and got a Cub Cadet belt that was the same length as the broken one. The old belt measured 78" from break to break. A catalog of replacement belts said the belt I need is 78.5". The Cub package said the belt is 46" long (????). It fits and works. What is with the measuring system they use? The question is, how long is the drive belt for a 1989 4212 H? The Cub belt seems to be about 1/2" or so too long as the idler pulleys don't seem to have any real tension on them. Any hints for a ready replacement belt (numbers/brand)?
