Brucep Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I just picked up a 7016 sovereign (1978 MODEL) and the deck on it is not the original, It's a A/C deck. A couple things here. #1, The deck isn't one that lifts with the cable, it's one that requirs the kit that has a bracket and chain that hook to the rocker assembly arm to lift it. I can find the kit and number and picture in the Technical Publications but nothing on where it should atach to the tractor. I was wondering if anyone had a picture or discription of this hook up or even if anyone has built their own bracket and has dimentions. I'm sure I could easily build my own. #2 The height adjustment handles that you turn to raise or lower the deck hit the rocker assembly arm when you turn them, makeing them very difficult to adjust. Has anyone had this same problem? And is it normal? I am able to adjust the height to where I want it but this doesn't seem right. It is presently set at about two and a quarter inchs. I'm pretty sure from my research that you could have ordered this tractor with this deck, so makeing it right shouldn't be that big a deal. So far I have narrowed it down to being a 990414 or a 990502 deck, I think it's the 414 deck because if it was the 502 deck the belts would be to long. I didn't mention that I had set the bail adjustment on it and to get it level one bail is adjusted out quite a bit more than the other makeing it a little more difficult to hitch up then it should be. I figure the deck must be twisted some. I'm pretty sure why the deck is twisted now. It's because the cable lift doesn't pull in the center, therefor the deck is lifted and one side hangs lower than the other by alot. I think over time this has probably bent the bail arms. Any help would be great! Thanks alot!
JJ MARSHALL Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 does this deck have the T ajusters and are them hitting the running boards. how about a picture of the deck? JJ
Brucep Posted June 9, 2005 Author Posted June 9, 2005 Yes it has T adjusters, although they dont exactly look like a T like the ones on my 42 inch deck they do the same thing. The T part of the adjuster hits the rocker assembly not the running boards. They hit the part that is kinda hinged, directly below the handle or T. They dont hit until you turn them in far enough. Yet not enough to reach the height adjustment that the book says you should be able to get. I'll try to get a picture of it when I get home tonight after work and post it here.
