rickf 1 Posted June 8, 2005 Well local auction had a dozen or so garden tractors that no one wanted. Bought a t16H minus motor and a 816 for $2, Were some nice older Bolens/IH but no room here.. Anyway, have some 16/18 Briggs Vtwins sitting around wondering if any one's put one in a homelite (or the nearest simplicity) equivalent. otherwise it'll have to be an older 12... Thanks. HubbardRA 19 Posted June 8, 2005 It should be a relatively easy swap, if the base of the engine will fit down into the frame without much modification. Hooking up driveshaft, throttle, fuel line, etc., is relatively easy. If you decide to do it and need any help, just email or PM me. I've done several engine swaps. I currently have four Simp/ACs and only one has the original engine. At one time I considered putting a twin cyl Onan in my 61 Wards, but decided not to cut up the frame. I wouldn't hesitate putting one in a chassis like the T16. It has been done too many times by other members for it to be a great problem. I would also recommend that you pay the $10 and join the club. You will find it well worth it if you are conducting a project and need help. Many members will not provide as much information to a non-member as they would to a member. You will also be able to post pictures, which will be a big help to any of us who are trying to help you solve a problem. The old addage "is" true. A picture "is" worth a thousand words when explaining a problem and asking for help.
