Tom Deutsch Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 This is probably a stupid question, but here goes... I printed out the owners manual for my Deutz-Allis 917H, but there doesn't seem to be any info on the hydraulic lift system. Am I just being blind or maybe I'm missing some pages? The lift is working fine, I just want to make sure I keep on top of any maintenance, etc, such as filling the reservoir (wherever that is!). Any maintenance needed with these units?
Ronald Hribar Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 It is all driven off your charge pump(Hydrostatic Transmission)
HubbardRA Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 As Ron said, there is no maintenance except keeping the fluid filled to the proper level and changing the fluid and filter regularly in your transmission. You should also check the cylinder, hoses, and valve for leaks on a regular basis. That is all. Just follow the maintenance instructions for the tranny. I recently installed a hydrolift on my AC716 that runs off the charge pump also. This was not an option on my tractor, but I used the parts manual for a 7116H with hydrolift, since they both used the same Sunstrand tranny. I love it.
Tom Deutsch Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Thanks. So it does double duty. That makes sense since the "noise" the lift makes is the same as when I accelerate. I had seen postings where people are talking about a "reservoir" for hydraulic oil and I kept wondering if I was just not seeing some big plastic tank somewhere. Guess I always thought of the transmission fluid as...transmission fluid (and not hydraulic oil) and the tranny fluid was in the ... tranny case (not a reservoir). Thanks for the clarification and for everyone's patience. (Darn city-raised boys with their first tractor!):I
RayS Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Pretty sure that the fluid reservoir that you are thinking of is for the vickers hydros. They have a reservoir between the 2 side plates that hold the transmission to the BGB.
Kenh Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Rod, From your reply you say that a 7116 can be fitted with a hydraulic lift. My owners manual only mentions an electric lift. What is needed to convert to a hydrolift? The manual lift is ok for the mower deck but the tiller will rip yopur arm off. Thanks!!! Ken
