car coil

This B-110 was set-up to use a car coil but the coil is not there now can anyone help me to replace this coil with pics or diagram so I can make sure it runs that will be the cheapest way [img]http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/attach/toad270/10009.JPG[/img] the green wire that goes across the starter is connected to the ignition switch. [img]http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/attach/toad270/10010.JPG[/img] the green wire coming out of the grill is connected to the points. should I just be able to put a coil on and connect the 2 ends to the coil and that take care of it?

Toad, If you use an automotive coil, it will also need a ballast resistor wired in series with it (between the ignition switch and the positive terminal of the coil). Without one the points will burn rather quickly. Best bet is to buy a Kohler coil, which is internally ballasted. That is what I am running on my B/S 243431. Been running battery-coil ignition on that one for around twenty years. Haven't had to replace points yet.

When you hook up the internal ballast coil, a wire from the neg. post on the coil should go to the condenser and the positive to the ignition switch (key switch).
