MrSteele Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 I am working on a 65 Landlord, have few mechanical questions on anything concerning the tractor. One thing is nagging me, though. The air filter was nonexistant. I know from looking at Briggs catalogs on the 23D, that the filter was foam around a metal core. My parts dealer says it has been discontinued, but a new paper filter works in its place. That might be true if I wanted to cut a hole in the hood, which I do not. My next idea is to rig several smaller available filters stacked together. Compressing them with the outer housing should work to keep dirt out. Anyone had the problem, or is the original foam filter still available somewhere?
gregc Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 I'm pretty sure that the foam filter is still available. Briggs part no. 270093 Filter-Air Cleaner Foam. The metal core is Briggs part no. 280001 Support-Foam Element.
RayS Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 They were still available 6 months ago when I bought them. And they are still available according to Jacks website http://www.jackssmallengines.com/searchparts2.cfm .
MrSteele Posted July 4, 2005 Author Posted July 4, 2005 Thanks! I have a friend who is a NAPA dealer, so I'll call him. Usually, he says he doesn't have anything for small engines, and he is used to me buying parts for cars and trucks, so maybe he'll believe me when I give hime the part number I want.
