Kent Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I'd guess it to be a 36" deck off a late 1960's vintage 727 or 728 Broadmoor... could actually be off the smaller Yeoman or Serf.
Kent Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 On second thought, if it goes with the little Simplicity tractor just below it, I'm guessing that that is/was really a T-8 Homelite made by Simplicity. Hard to tell, but that also explains the blue paint....
Chris727 Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Kent is right. Looks like a 36" homelite deck to me. I have a couple of those. I used one on my AC Homesteader8. Looks to be an AC-built Homelite so its more of an AC deck than Simplicity, I guess
Kent Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Chris, I agree that the tractor looks like an AC-made Homelite but the deck looks like a Simplicity-made LH discharge deck. I wonder if Allis "borrowed" this deck design from the Homesteader, or if it was actually a Simplicity-made deck. The bigger AC-made Homelites used the RH discharge, shallow decks, I think... Chris727 Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Kent, I've got a microfishe card for the AC built homelites and will take a look to see what direction the decks discharged. I know they used the shallower decks more like an AC 300/400 series. This was around the same time the Homesteader was made, I think 71-74. I know my Homesteader is a 71. The tractor was basically a B-207 E painted orange but with a deck unique to AC and homelite, whearas the B-207 had a deep style 36" broadmoor deck.
Chris727 Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Kent, it appears the AC-Built homelite's all used AC decks. The larger tractors had right hand discharge decks, while the smaller ones like the T-7 used a shallow left hand deck. The simplicity built versions used a deep deck, I believe.
