Depends where the end play is, but you can adjust it by loosening the collars around the axle, and pushing them in and tightening them. I'd have to know more about your end play to be more specific.

I tried to get the play out with the two collars! It didn,t seem to make a difference? I notice the play at the seal that slides over the axel tube. It"s worn the paint off. I've also noticed the whole assembly moves, axle, axle tubes, wheels everything in and out of the rear end!!From side to side.RHA

Ok, A little play is normal, but maybe another member can give you a better information regarding this, as i'm not totally sure.

Lift the whole rear up, with both wheels off the ground. Take the left side collar loose. Pull the whole axle assembly to the left as far as it will go. Push the collar against the tranny, and tighten the set screws. This has always worked on my machines. Right side collar positions the parts, to line up on the keys. Left side is used to pull the slack out of the assembly.

Hi, When the axle tube slides back and forth, the only thing that will fix it is the spacer washers inside the gear case. If it is less than 1/8 inch or so, it wouldn't accept an extra washer anyway. New washers might fix a lot of it out. Don't know as I have ever seen this cause a problem. Esthetics yes. Al Eden
