goatfarmer 817 Posted July 18, 2005 ....on the 6 HP Briggs on my newly aquired Wonderboy. The thing is,it had spark, but wouldn't stay running because of carb problems. I pulled the carb, rebuilt it,reinstalled it,and now it has no spark. Coincidence? Or does the governor linkage have something to do with spark? That's the only thing I can figure. Thanks! Roy 0 Posted July 18, 2005 Ken, Most small Briggs engines have a "kill" switch on the carburetor linkage that the kill wire attaches to. I suspect the kill wire is not hooked up and is shorted to ground. Look for a loose wire around the end of the carburetor opposite the choke end. My thoughts,
D-17_Dave 12 Posted July 18, 2005 I would tend to agree w/ Roy on the shorted ground wire or something you moved while haveing the carb. or shroud off. The govn. has nothing to do w/ the ign. but it is in close procintity to the coil and other wires. It's also possible the points have oil or moister on them and while you had the carb. off they got gummed up.
goatfarmer 817 Posted July 19, 2005 There is the kill switch you mention, but it looks like it hasn't had any wire on it for a while. I'll look around for any loose wires.
