2burning 1 Posted July 19, 2005 Doc, http://www.simpletractors.com/parts/belts/belts_(pg5).htm says it should be a 71.6" part number 163011 for a 48" deck or a 74.1" part number 176439 for a 42" deck I have put a 71.6" part number belt on my 7016H class machine an it was the proper length. docs 6 Posted July 19, 2005 OK thanks, is that the belt that goes from the tractor pto to the 48" deck. I do not need the belt that drives the deck spindles and blades. I'm having trouble trying to figure it out according to the deck manual, and the tractor parts manual shows no belt, for that pto, This is a strange setup according to my old simplicity, The pulley and tention pulley look crooked in there is that normal. Thanks, Tom Docsplace
2burning 1 Posted July 19, 2005 Doc, Yes, that is the belt that goes from the cone clutch (PTO) on the tractor down to the pulley on top of the deck. The tensioner pulleys are supposed to be 'crooked' as compared to the tractor. They should be 'straight' or lined up with the belt when the belt is on. Make sure and get the belt on the right way or the blades turn backwards :> Done that once. The backside idler that is more 'crooked' is for the side of the belt that comes off the passenger side of the mower pulley.
docs 6 Posted July 19, 2005 OK Good deal< it does have that cone clutch PTO, I guess I may have to try it one way and check the blade rotation to make sure that its on the right way, Seems strange that those pulleys are crooked seems to me like it would wear belts faster, This bealt was in good shape and it just broke it in half, Does not appear to be any real reason but I'm going to check and make sure nothing is loose under there. Thanks Again, Tom, Docsplace
docs 6 Posted July 19, 2005 That is a 1/2" width isn't it? Mine has quit a bit of wear on the side.
UCD 14 Posted July 19, 2005 Cheap or aftermarket belts don't last on this application. They will break just like the one you had. The cheapest belt is the OEM belt. If all pulleys are in good shape and are aligned an OEM belt will last for years. 1690184 Baron - 7013H Drive Belt# 1650502 Length 46.1 Type HA 1/2" X 11/32" Generator Belt# 166172 Length 47.1 Type HA 1/2" X 11/32" 1690021 48" Rotary Mower P.T.O. docs 6 Posted July 20, 2005 OK Thanks UCD, Local Simplicity dealer has a couple in stock here where I live for 31.00 going to pick it up this afternoon. The cheap aftermarkets I see were 22 + 5-6 shipping. I figure I'm better off buying the OEM. Plus most the aftermarkets I seen were only 71.5 just a hair short. Any body out there have any good center spindle for a 42" deck for a 69 landlord. Thanks, Tom, Docs
dlcentral 1 Posted July 22, 2005 Doc,, I agree in this app. you need the Sim belt, others will last only hrs., if at all, also when the new belt is installed and tensioned, make sure you have 3/8-1/2 in clearance where belt meets up with itself before going forward to deck too small a clear will kill it quickly,if clear is too small your backside idler is too big I had that prob. with 1 till I figured out that there are 2 diff pulley sizes depending on ser # of trac just like JD does with everything!
