Hi, My grandson was back today to work on his tractor. The back wheels were stuck on, so it was: Stuck wheel removal lessons at our shop. First we tried the air chisel, they wouldn't budge. Step 2 add some heat from the torch. Step 3 Drive them off with the air chisel while hot. Off they came with enough hammering. Note the angle of the chisel. About 60 to 70 degrees to the axle. If you get closer to 45 degrees, the stee on the hub starts to peel and it doesn't crack the rust. By pounding at closer to a right angle and rotating the wheel, it helps to powder and crack up the rust. You need to be pounding over the shaft. If you get out where the center is welded on, you will just cut the center loose. picture of the air chisel shows the bit we use. We usually blunt the edge so it will get a little tooth, but not sharp enough to cut into the metal. I hope these pictures come out. Thanks to whoever fixes them if they do. Are those the one piece wheels? I believe the 727's originally had an axle tube that bolted to the wheel with 3 lug bolts and attached to the axle with a pin. They may be easier to work with than the one-piece wheels.
