36" & 38" Tillers: Why Two Lift Directions?

The standard Sovereign rear lift uses a pulley with the cable. The lift lever is moved backward (toward rear of tractor) to raise/lift the attachments. This is used with the 36" tiller and all other rear implements except the 38" HD tiller. For the 38" HD unit the cable pulley is removed and the cable moved to the opposite side of the lift lever shaft. In this configuration, the lever is pushed forward to lift the tiller and backwards to lower the it. This method seems more intuitively correct to me when operating the tractor. These are my the questions: Why are they different? Why not use the 38" HD tiller configuration for all implements and save the cost of the cable pulley? Just curious,

I believe it's due to the weight difference. The 38" tiller is a monster! By switching the lift around on the 38" tiller it takes one pulley out lift setup. Also the mount on the pulley used in the lift isn't overly strong.
