10HorseMan 0 Posted August 21, 2005 In the kohler manual under assessories it lists a oil bath air cleaner for the K series engines. Anyone have one on there mower. My 410s has been promoted to primary mower and I have to stop and clean out the outer element of the filter very often "every 2 hours" and it is full of dirt, grass, dust, and all things inbetween. D-17_Dave 12 Posted August 21, 2005 The oil bath cleaner handles the biger stuff better but it doesn't trap the fine stuff as well. A good paper filter flows more air than the oil bath system also. My 2 cents worth- stick with the factory setup. BTW, you can add a filter assembly off of a 341 thats huge for a 10hp air flow requirment and may help the down time. MrSteele 483 Posted August 22, 2005 I disagree with Dave, would rather have an oil bath any time on any engine. Problem is, they are harder to come by, and take up too much room for most situations. Paper filters are easier, supposedly better, but. Any filter not properly serviced tends to ruin an engine. If your filters are becoming clogged that quickly, do as I did on a Cub Cadet. That filter was clogged in the time yours is. I mounted a filter in a PVC housing behind the tractor, ran a combination of PVC pipe and rubber hose to the carb. Have to be careful to have enough flow or you'll ruin your engine, anyway. My problem was that the deck threw trash to the front, and the cooling breeze on the engine blew it right into the air filter. With the filter mounted behind the seat, that problem went away. Took a lot of 'engineering', a lot of tie wire, and a good imagination, but it works. I used a filter that fits a 35 HP or so Kubota, with 2 inch pipe and hose to the carb. HubbardRA 19 Posted August 22, 2005 Why not build a stack filter like the Semi-trucks use. It would match the stack mufflers that many have.
