use without battery

Will it damage a starter/generator on a landlord series to run it without a battery? I just bought a used engine and want to install it. I plan to crank it with the rope pulley, but there is no battery for the output to go to.

Randy I don't know that it will hurt the S/G but as easy as it is to loosen the S/G and slip the belt off I would not take any chances.

It won't hurt the chargeing system but without any bat. for the regulator to read if you turn on anything like the lights it'll go to full output on the voltage and burn out anything that's rated at 12 volts. I ruined a full set of electric gauges in a big tractor like this.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
