Vinnie_A Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I have way too manny hours in trying to figure this out and hope some one can help.My 3210V has a like new mower deck #990575 and mowes 3" high grass for 1 minute and throws the brand new V groove cross drive belt New cross drive belt #168171 (V groove) New pto belt #157863 Mower deck belt tight and new condition All deck spindles are not bent, are tight and turn freely Pullys are like new Mower deck adjustment front to rear is correct PTO seems to run smoothe New mower blades Thanks, Vinnie
msiebern Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 In addition to what wilm mentioned, the bolt holding the tension/idler pulley can become loose and wobble around causing the alignment to go away. Check the idler/tension pulley for alignment.
D-17_Dave Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I know you said the spindles loked good and turned freely but I had the same problem w/ the double groove belt on my 212 and it was the center spindle w/ a slightly loose bearing. When it would hit a rough spot and bump the deck hard it would make the center spindle change angles quickly and make the belt crawl out of it's groove and jump off. I didn't think it was enough top hurt it untill I replaced the bearings and the problem stopped. You might want to recheck that center bearing.
Vinnie_A Posted September 4, 2005 Author Posted September 4, 2005 Thanks for the help, looks like the problem maybe the idle assembly on the PTO. The 1/4" X 3" stud is quite worn and has a lot of slop which may in turn be throwing the belt. I am ordering a new one and hope that fixes the problem.
KVANDY12 Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Make sure the idler tension pulley is turning and bearing not froze. Had that on my mower this week end and was throwing the belts off.
