landlord2110 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 having trouble downloading picture. do you need faster service than phone line? Script Timeout Value runs out even if I change time. I downloaded Infranview as UCD recommended. My picture size is 387kb and tried to compress more but dont know how. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS
HubbardRA Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 First thing that I do is crop the picture as small as posssible. Next, I usually change to 16 bit color. Finally, I change the size to 640 x 480. I think I have only had one picture that failed to post after doing these things in IrfanView.
goatfarmer Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I download pictures on a phone line with no problem. Sounds like your file may be too large,if it's running into timeout.
UCD Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 With Irfanview open Click on file. click on open and find the picture you want to resize. click on it to open. Click on image at top left of tool bar. Click on Resize/Resample. Left side of window at top will tell you current size of file. On right side of window under "Some standard dimensions". Click on radio button beside 640 x 480. Click on ok. At top of new picture window Click on file. Click on save as. Chose folder you want to place file in. Rename file. Save as type Choose JPEG. Click on save. Go to folder where file is saved and point to folder with cursor. a little window will open telling you the size of the file. It should be now under 100 kb. If it is not, reopen the file click on image, Resize/Resample and on the left side of window use percentage tool. click on radio button for "Set new size as percentage of original". type percentage you want in the width window. Check box next to "Preserve aspect ratio". click ok click file. click save as. rename as above and check size. Reminder always rename file so as to keep original so you can start over if needed
