PGL 431 Posted September 18, 2005 Here is my AC 620 with the CCKB in it Here it is again with the B&S Vanguard 23HP - it also grew a loader and rear blade Here it is from the top. It fits in nicely and comes complete with stater/charger; used the B&S muffler. One last one from the side. Everything works fine, it runs cool. Note the "custom" heat shield battery hold down combo. HubbardRA 19 Posted September 19, 2005 Very nice install. I love the sound and smoothness of those Vanguards.
eagle5473 0 Posted September 19, 2005 Nice install, did you need to make any bug changes to make it work? How about mounting? Looks like that one has an oil cooled for the engine as well looks nice
D-17_Dave 12 Posted September 19, 2005 Looks good. Did you do the kit or did you source it from somewhere?
PGL 431 Posted September 21, 2005 The old Onan was running well and meets specs for oil pressure and compression. Another 620 720 owner with three machines wanted to update and got a good deal on three of these engines and worked out how to replace them with some machining for adapters. He did two of his, then had to sell due to changes in his circumstances. He sold me the last engine and installed it, using his tried and true conversion techniques. It is a very neat and successful installation with no alignment or other problems. The engine could very easilly come in and out again, but I hope it won't need to for a long time. I wouldn't have changed the Onan it the opportunity hadn't arisen and if I wasn't using the machine where parts and service are not easy to find. It starts with the first touch of the key and the 620 with the loader and blade is fun and useful. There is no grass where I have it, but a long drive and lots of trees, rocks and soil to move around. I'll try to get more detailed information from my friend if you think it would help. By the way, he also had a bit of machining done on the electric clutch so it now uses a standard off-the-shelf bearing for less than $10 instead of the original which runs around $75 I'm told.
