GWGAllisfan 159 Posted September 24, 2005 Cut grass for the first time since 1996, with an Allis Chalmers, that is. After all my troubles getting My B-10 to run, today I bolted in a "new" ( around 67-68) engine, hooked up all the wires and hoses, and afer some carb adjustment, cut the grass with the B-10. To me this is a major acheivement, and one I often doubted would ever come. For those of you who have been answering my questions this past year, Thank you. of course I'm sure to have more....Like what do you do when the parts tractor actually runs, too!!!! orangeone 0 Posted September 25, 2005 I agree with Greg, Get more parts tractors. Any tractor that runs is NOT a parts tractor.
john-holcomb 0 Posted September 25, 2005 Good going Greg, if your like me one will do the yard work and on will do the heavy work [towing, grader, plow]. A good ratio seems to be about one tractor for every two tools. Got too many tractors, Then get more tools! Too many tools? You got it! Its tractor time, it seams to be a cyle thats easy to catch. Good luck.

GWGAllisfan 159 Posted September 25, 2005 Thanks for the congrats.... Wife wasn't really hot on the idea of another parts tractor....She's been real supportive so far...but she has her limits.... For the first time in a while I wish it would rain so I can cut again......Here in north Georgia it hasn't rained since August.
swede 0 Posted September 27, 2005 How about setting the deck as high as it will go and cut your grass. Then in a few days lower the deck 1/2 inch and cut it again. You can keep on like this until you hit dirt or it rains and get a whole bunch of tractor time in!!! I hate rub it in, but we have been getting quite a bit of rain in MN lately, so once a week hasn't been enough to keep on top of the yard. (Just like spring time cutting) Usually this time of year the grass slows down - not this year!
