Oil Pan for Kohler K341

Recommended Posts

bigdog46
I have just acquired a Kohler K341AQS engine, Spec. 71147a that has a special oil pan that is almost square and is not flat on the bottom. I want to install it in an AC 900 series tractor. Is there a different oil pan available for my engine that I can install to make it work on my tractor? Thanks for your help. ?

That engine is likely for a Deere or a Cub. It will not work as the "A" block engines do not have the ears at the bottom of the block for a regular oil pan to bolt to. Even if you could find a flat type oil pan used on some of those models it probably wouldn't work because I think on your engine the dipper goes down further and would hit. If it were me I'd sell it and look for a different engine. Any of the Kohler K-Series engines in which the model number is followed by the letter "A" (ex:K241A or K301A) will not work on an AC or Simplicity.

Been there, tried that. Decided not to. The pans don't directly interchange, but could probably be modified to fit, and as Chris said, they used different dippers. If you try it, be careful, and do plenty of measuring. If the dipper hits the pan, it could be catastrophic to the engine.

Thanks for your input. After a lot of measurement, I think that I can mount the engine with the existing oil pan but will have to use spacers and longer bolts to fasten to the tractor frame.

GB, I did just that when I put a 12 Hp Cub Cadet engine in my 61 Wards. I left the original oil pan on the engine. I used sections of threaded rod, and locked them to the oilpan with locknuts. I then used 1/2 inch pipe to make spacers and opened up the top of the spacers to fit over the locknuts. I then re-drilled the holes in the frame and used locknuts underneath the frame. I also had to make a driveshaft to flywheel adapter. The whole setup worked fine.
