debalko 0 Posted October 10, 2005 I have a pristine condition 700. It has a front horizontal pto. I also have a standard walk behind 22 inch snowthrower (generic). The drive platter no longer works. If it separate the drive from the thrower, the thrower is driven by a horizontal shaft pulley and belt. Question Is it worth trying to retrofit the thrower to the front of the 700? Not sure if it can be done without some 700 modifications. George
Alpha8D 0 Posted October 10, 2005 I've got TWO 26" snowthrowers that still work. One's a Jacobsen the other Gilson. Thought about bolting them together WITH their engines still on and mounting them to front of Simplicity 101 somehow. Could even tie chutes together so one is slave off the other. Then decided enough is enough regards Rube Goldberg and just bought a used 42" blower for tractor instead. There's still a need for the walk behinds to get where the tractor can't go. Morris 0 Posted October 18, 2005 I wouldn't modify the 700. These are classic machines and you could actually be shot for considering even the slightest modification to their design! :D Actually, it would probably be easier to modify the the snow blower, just have to, #1, figure out the best way to attach it, and #2, drive it. Tractor Supply Co., and lots of auto and farm supply stores sell all manner of pulleys and it seems likely you could get what you need from there.
