Shear pin.

I sheared the 3/8 pin in my roto-tiller yesterday. It's the one that holds the tines on the shaft. I had some I had made up from old bolts, grade 5. Should I use the old bolts or get something that will break if the thing binds up??

Use grade 8 bolts They will shear same as shear pins.
