B-210/3210 not shifting

Recommended Posts

Can't seem to get the B-210 I just picked up to go into gear. From looking at the parts manual I am missing a safety switch? Did start up though with any problem. Also, is there supposed to be a shifter holder mounted under the dash like the B-110 has? There isn't one and no bolt holes to show there has ever been one there. Here's a picture of the shifter tranny area. Sorry for the grease and dirt, still haven't got a chance to clean everything off yet.

The bottom dash should have a bolt welded in place I think that a bracket and nut go onto to hold the front of the shift rod. If it won't move in or out at the tranny, try cleaning and oiling it up then pecking a little to help loosen it up. Even if the trans. won't shift into gear left or right, it should go in and out. I'm gueseing you've fired it up and it's not stuck in gear and the shift in neutral.

Thanks Dave. Yep, I did fire it up in neutral. The weld must have broke then on the bracket. The shaft that moves in out of the tranny moves back and fine no problem. Just now tried pulling up on the shifter and I was able to get it into reverse with some dificulty but not any other gears.

The shifter on the B210 I bought a year ago is very tight, when it comes to trying to shift it.It almost takes 2 hands to move the shifter, when it's in the neutral area.Someone told me to look for an accumulation of grass or similar, where the shift rod rides.Haven't done that yet....
