60" Mower Deck Maintanence

Just took the mower deck off the 620. What sort of post season maintanence should I do to insure another 30 years of service?

I just scrape off the accumulated grass build on my decks and clean under the covers.

I've noticed on mine that the space under the covers is a real issue for rust and corrosion. I'd certainlytake time to clean and spray under the covers and under the deck in the corners good w/ some heavy spray oil or some used motor oil. Something heavy enough to last through the moist air durring winter.

I give mine a good coating of WD-40. Check for any cracks in deck and repair before they grow. Keep the spindle shafts well greased. Also, make sure that the belt tensioner bushing is free so that the belt does not slip.

I clean under the covers good then take the tension off the belt, been doing this for 26 years on my 620, still using the same deck belt and drive belt cutting 3 acres. Floydster
