1920H Tire Question

Recommended Posts

Well, we got our first big snow last night. I figured that since it was snowing and we had about 6 inches on the ground that naturally it would be time to get the tractor ready! My chains wouldn't fit the 26x12x12 on the tractor so I put some 8.50's on it. It looks dumb, but works better. While doing this I wondered if the 26x12x12's were on the wrong sides. The seem to really stick ut and the rubbed on the mower deck, but I just marked that up to loose pins in the front. Here is a picture of the tractor when I bought it. I haven't taken any recent photo's. What do the experts say? I also am contemplating on putting duals with 4 chains on it for extra traction. Anyone done this? I put them on my 914S last year with the 50" blade I built and the rear axles flexed like toothpicks so I quickly removed them. Is the 1920 axle stronger. It looks like it would be. Thanks!

(Sorry for some reason I can't get the picture to show) Thanks Maynard!

I don't think duals are the answer. I don't have the 26x12-12 lugs on my 7117 yet, but plan on using weight instead of chains. How much I will need is another question. I have 260 on the seat and 2 of the cast weights on each wheel (80 pounds?) and can put more on back. Do not want to use chains on concrete driveway

The 26x12x12 tires were optional on the Sunstars & 1920's. The tires will be very close to rubbing the fenders and is also normal for the mower deck to hit when raised all the way up. I have 23x10.50x12 tires with chains on my Sunstar along with 150-200lbs of weight on the back of the tractor plus me at 190lbs and my steel cab. It works very well with a blower on the front. I have posted pics of my tractor a couple of years ago, here is the link. Dan http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=11906&SearchTerms=sunstar,cab

Thanks Guys! When I put the 26x12x12's back on I will see if they fit the other way. I am seriously looking into the fluid in the tires. I used it tonight and it sure does like to spin. PeppyDan that cab is absolutley awesome. Any updated pics with the stripes and cream top you talked about?

With the 26" tires there is just enough room for the chains to clear the fender extentions. In fact if you travel at top speed they will hit them. The 26" tires are only compatable with the 60" deck, as said above, the smaller decks rub the center of the tire tread. Stock tires on this tractor were 23 X 12 X 12. I have 2 link chains and 55# on each rear tire with the 26" tires and have never had a problem plowing, or blowing up to 3' of snow(I do have the diff. lock). That is the deepest we have had around here in the 12 years I have had it.

Unfortunately, I have never gotten the time to put any stripes on the cab. I seem to alwys have other items higher on the to-do list. I am glad I had it this weekend, we had about 6" of snowfall and 10-20 mph winds. This translates to about 6 hrs of blowing snow at my place on the top & side of a hill. I had an area about 30'x40' in my drive( farm type with lots of gravel)that averaged between two to three feet of snow. I'm ready for spring!!! Dan

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
