PhanDad 3,529 Posted December 24, 2005 You can rotate the oil pan 180 degrees on the 12 and 16 HP Briggs singles. I wouldn't see why you couldn't on yours. I'm sure someone here has done it and will confirm.
johnmonkey 4 Posted December 24, 2005 I should be able to flip around as stated. You will probably need a new pan gasket and a pipe nipple. (1/4")maybe. JH
ToddM 0 Posted December 24, 2005 I needed to turn my pan also and was real careful with the old gasket and was able to reuse it.
Karl_Brandt 6 Posted December 24, 2005 I have done this on a 16hp Briggs & Stratton engine before.;) Oil pans can go on these engines either way. Karl www.simplicityva.com
a7117puller 0 Posted December 26, 2005 either way and rtv sealant, havent had one leak/seep since ive been rtv the pan/block. just trim excess with razor blade or take a rag and clean it.
MDB 134 Posted December 26, 2005 I have had to turn the oil pan on the last four engine that I have bought. A 10HP, a 12HP and two 16HPs. Usually make my own gaskets from bulk gasket material.
10HorseMan 0 Posted December 26, 2005 I have done the same thing. Not a problem unless you have already filled the pan with oil. On every other briggs I have seen in this era they have the pan the other way but all the ones in the tractors are turned around.
