JJ MARSHALL Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 i got 2 k301 kohler engine 1 is off A/C the other off a wheel horse the oil pans will not interchange why is that? JJ
Chris727 Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Maybe the wheel horse has an "A" type block.
HTews Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 There was a wide base and a narow base. Simplicity use one style and cub cadet, and wheel horse used the other. If my memory serves me right.
HubbardRA Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 JJ, I have both Simplicity and Cub Cadet Kohler engines. The oil pans will not interchange between the two. They are close, and at one time I thought about trying a modification to fix this problem, but never did. At the time I was trying to put a 12 Hp Kohler from a Cadet onto my 61 Wards. I ended up making new mounts for the engine and using the Cub oil pan, instead of trying to change the pans. Ran that for a while, but eventually upgraded to a 14 Hp Kohler with the right type pan. Pan had nothing to do with the reason for upgrade. Just wanted more horsepower when we were into pulling.
