For the begining of the saga refer to "16 HP Briggs Coil". Thanks to ALL for the help and sugestions. This is a great site with great people!! Wound up getting my engine running just fine. Replaced the condencer so now have great spark... After shearing the flywheel key 'cause the nut wasen't tight enough. Took me two hours and messing with the points about 1000 times before I found the problem. (Just another dumb-ass attack). Starter was squealing badly and thought that it needed lubed. It had one magnut that came un-glued and broken. Replaced the barrel with one off a "modern" 15 hp doaner. Checked out altinator, it is fine so just need new volt regulator. $70 from my local dealer, but, somebody steered me to E-bay, had one there for $34 plus $5 to ship. By the way I belive in supporting your local dealer as much as possiable. Engine back in the tractor and all is well! Thanks again to all for the help and sugestions! Ken
