Heads up / potential fraud / ebay offer

I have been shopping tractors a lot lately. I blew a bid on a machine that I really wanted. I have bid on several items that I did not win recently. I got an email from a yahoo account today offering me a very very good deal on an item that I did not win... I was not the second highest bidder either... I will make some calls to the business that offered the tractor for sale and verify the fraud attempt... In any case I wanted to pass along to all of my fellow tractor friends that this happened to me and more than likely will happen to many other people on this board. I have given out no personal info other than my name, and have of course sent no money or financial info .... beware. I would be really comfortable doing business with folks on this board... I don't want to see someone taken advantage of. Thanks Scott

Thanks for the heads up! The regulars on here are a great bunch, and I've always gotten more than I expected. Anytime I question the validity of an ebay deal, I offer the seller only COD.

I too have been looking for a Kubota on ebay and have found several over and over again. For prices too good to be true. The seller says they are out of the country and has the Item in storage with ebay square trade. And will ship when they receive the money or they want you to put the cash in an escrow account with ebay then tell you the shipping is free. And when you put your money in escrow they tell you there is a problem with shipping and you need to send money to shipping company which is bogus. They set up a fake web site and you send money because you are so excited to get your tractor at a great price you are willing to now pay the shipping. Once you pay it's the last you hear of them...nothing is being shipped and never was.... Look out for any deal "Too Good To Be True" Mark G. (deutz1920)

Scott, was it that tractor for sale in Big Bend? I just bought a spare tractor when you notified the group about that one. I was kicking myself 'cuz it did look like a great tractor and sooooo close to home. On a side note, don't you get trigger-shy about posting possible deals on this or any other site? I am always afraid that someone will swoop in and snipe a good deal away from me. I am not in any way implying that there are any shady characters here. In fact, ALL my experiences are quite to the contrary. But we have all been at rummage sales where we ask the owner about an item and before their answer is even complete, some sweet-looking old lady picks up the very item and says "I'll take it". That happened to me at a rummage last summer....I was asking the owner about a lawn roller and another guy swooped in and said "I'll give you that price". I just stood there with my jaw on my chest. I couldn't believe the nerve. Which reminds me of a topic that is probably more appropriate for another thread....I will type it up and post it shortly. Sorry to get side tracked....it just will make me feel a lot better to know that the "fraudulent" tractor you mention was the one in Big Bend because I was second guessing my own recent purchase when I saw that one go for $800 or $850 or whatever the final bid ended up being. It seemed "too good to be true"!

Yes I missed on on the one in big bend... computer issues. I was a bit nervous because they would not allow me to look at it or even get me the 169 number etc... That machine would make me happy, but I missed it. I had bid on a 2000 landlord 20 H and got a fake ebay second chance. I filed a fraud alert with yahoo and notified the seller of the real tractor... the place it was purchased from seems 100 percent like a nice place to deal with. I have bids on a ford tractor and may try to buy an allis chalmers bigger tractor if the ford does not work out. Had a couple auctions that the seller has a really really high reserve on... they got too rick for my blood..

Quantico, were you looking at the AC716H with the high reserve? If so, I just met that guy when I bought a snow blower from. I know a little about that tractor. Dan aka IronPony
