ambler 0 Posted February 9, 2006 I have a 326437 0135 16hp. It has gear start and what I believe is dual alternator 3 amp DC and 14 volt AC for lights. If I replaced the stator with a DC only, how much output current should I expect? I believe this may have the small magnets. Can the magnets be replaced with the large ones? I'd like to get 10 amps max otherwise I'll just hang a starter generator.
gregc 3 Posted February 9, 2006 According to the parts list your engine has part no. 391363-Flywheel (10 Amp).
Kenh 37 Posted February 9, 2006 Just went through all this on my 326437. Unplug the volatage regulator. At full throttle you should have a minumun of 20 volts AC at the plug to the stator. Over 20 volts is OK. Mine was 24 volts. Make sure that you use the AC range on your multimeter. If you have over 20 volts AC your stator is fine. Next, plug the voltage regulator back in and check the voltage at the battery. (full throttle again) Assuming that the batery is OK, check the battery voltage. You should have 13.6 to 14.2 volts. You can check amperage by unpluging the single wire out of the voltage regulator and puting an amp meter in series in the line. Or just watch the meter on the dash of the tractor. Put a good load on the batery (lights, electric lift, etc.) If the meter moves to a positive reading all should be good to go. If anybody sees a mistake in all this please feel free to correct me!!
