4040 vs 4041?

The difference is the engine. The 4040 has a CCKA at about 16.5 HP. The 4041 has got a CCKB at 20 HP. The major difference in the engine is the manifold and carb. I know guys who have put CCKB carb manifolds on the A's and your right up there. Of coarse decaling would be different but parts are almost 100% interchangeable.

There are several other differances in the actual tractor. Early rear pto's on the 4040's were a whole diff. setup on the shaft but the later model stuff replaced all the early setup. The axle shafts were beefed up after the 4040 model. The ignition switch was moved to below the dash in the screen to help prevent water from intering the switch. There are differances in the chargeing system between the 2 style engines. There are a few 4041's with a single lift lever on the left side of the dash. But as a general rule most everything from 4041 and later had 2 lift levers that split the front and rear lift's so you could mount 2 implements at one time. Most mods can be done to upgrade you 4040 to the newer style tractorexcept the axle change. That too can be done but as long as you don't break the old one you won't need to change it. There are some differances in some of the fenders also but thats only cosmetic.

Thanks guys, this is the greatest club ever. I have asked 3 or 4 questions (probably for you guys all repetative) and gotten answers in mere minutes. As I have learned to navigate the site have learned most of my questions have already been answered. I will post some pictures as soon as I start to work on the tractor. you guys are great!!! thanks sean
