Decided to fire up the 64 Broadmoor after a long winter, new plug as usual, just barely stayed running, alot of popping like it was running lean--next step, rebuild the carb and new points,,then i thought of the new plug,a Champion "EZ Start"--the "one tug plug",replaced that with a new J19LM ,Purrs like new.Don't they test these things before letting them out the door ?

I have had nothing but trouble with Champion plugs and refuse to buy them. I have been using nothing but NGK plugs for the last 4 or 5 years without problems.

Ditto here on the Autolites. Several years ago while attneding and antique tractor show in Wauseon, OH, I was talking to a guy who had an F-20 similar to ours. Always had trouble with the plugs in it. He showed me the differance in the insulators and elctrode between the Champions and Autolites. Has run like a champ ever since changing and have just make Autolite my plug of choice for my toys (equipment).

I'll agree on the Champions of late. I changed everything in cars and trucks to Bosch many years ago, but will run an occasional NGK. Original equipmentin Ford products is Autolite, and I drive Ford. My Fords have Bosch in them, as Autolites don't last in the 4 cylinders, either. Champion used to be a better than most plug, and I still run a UD-16 in my ZZs.

Hi, We sell a lot of Champions and have little trouble. Also a lot of NGK and have not seen a significant difference with either. One thing that has bit me is the "one tug Champions" We have had problems with every one we sold. I cannot afford comebacks and these things have been nighmares to me. What they have is a gap in the center electrode and the spark has to jump this gap before the gap at the tip. Supposed to make a hotter spark. I don't know but I think the jumping gets its feet tangled up of something. Al Eden

I guess I never Tried a "one Tug" and I guess I won't now I have never liked Champions for 2 cycles they seem to foul out real easy... I prefer NGK myself... JMO

I don't want to stat anything, but research the country each brand is made in [not the country the companys from] and I think you'll find when most of the manufactureing went south the quality went with it. That might be 2-1/2 cents worth
