New Diesel engine for yours

My sons send me this link, very interesting what a long time race car nut is working on. Wonder if a 7790 could handle one. http://autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060227/FREE/302270007&S

If I read that article correctly there will be a gasoline powered stroke like a 4 cycle engine with the gas coming from the carb, then followed by a water/steam powered stroke with the water coming from the original diesel injection system. The cam timing gears must have been redesigned so the crankshaft will make 3 cycles to 1 for the camshaft. The camshaft would've been redesigned also so it has 2 exhaust valve lobes for each rotation. I would think it could still use just the 1 intake lobe?

it'll probably work good till somehow someway it blows up like a bomb and he or whoever builds it gets sued into oblivion.

One important thing to remember is the injection of water to stabilise the combustion chamber's fireing under the compresion stroke has been known about and used for years. ie, the EGR valve on any gas engine since around 1976. The induction of water vapor keeps the hot gas mix from predetanation under increased comp. ratio's. Anf of course thelarge kerosene tractors of the early 1900's used higher comp. ratio's and ign. systems with water injection or heavily modified carb's that varied the flow of water as well as fuel into the air flow and acheived incredible power. The limits of these engines were RPM's and the shear size of these monsters. This technology was eclipsed with the comon use of gasoline since it was so much more controlable and predictable. Funny how a hundred years later we find a way to return to the basis of technology for our internal combustion engines that has become common place for everything now.
