AC 816GT: what's it worth?

Have located an Allis Chalmers 816 GT, with 48" deck, no other attachments, in apparently very good condition, having been reconditioned by a former A-C dealer. What's a reasonable price? ($800 is being asked)

Sounds very reasonable to me. The equivalent today - if you need tiller capability - is around $5500 - even if you don't the 16HP and 48" cut are very nice to have and its serviced by a pro. However it usually never hurts to ask if the price is firm or somewhat negotiable - but also see if a reduction in price will affect any kind of warranty - from then its a matter of what you feel comfortable with.
Is it being sold by a former dealer or privately by someone who had a former dealer service it? I would think that a dealer would understandably be able to ask more than a private seller.
