weak front hydraulic on POwermax

I recently put a front blade/hydraulic cylinder on my powermax but the cylinder doesn't seem to have the strength/power to lift the blade. Rear cylinder works just fine; could it be air in the line? A bad valve? Anyone knows, please let me in on the secret! Thanks, Mike

There are lots of things it CAN be. Are the couplings correct and flowing oil? Are the ends of the flex lines on the cyl. bent shut or kinked. Are the metal lines on the tractor frame mashed flat? Is the linkage from the control strokeing the spool valve far enough to get flow and pressure to the front. There are a lot of things that can go wrong. Also, how heavy are any implements you might be lifting on the back? The lift may raise and lower fine empty but does it work with a load applied? The true way to trace this is a small flow meter and a presure gauge. Without that your kind of gueseing in the dark. One trick is around idle working the rear lift when the cyl. reaches the end of stroke do you notice the engine load up a little? Now tyr the front. Does it make the engine load a little indicateing your actually building pressure? Try a few things and do some visual search on the tractor for obvious problems and report back. I'm sure we'll be able to locate the problem.

I think you should check the lines on the cylinder as dave said many times they get put on wrong, and get pinched when the blade is all the way up......

The front does show a little engine load; lines do not appear pinched; Got a question....how do I adjust the linkage? It looks like a one-link motorcylcle chain connecting the lever to the rod? Thanks, Mike

If you are talking about the linkage to the hydraulic valve, there is no adjustment. Just make sure the handle is not hitting anything and the control valve is stroking fully.
