MasterChief Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I'm rebuilding a 1969 727 Broodmoar and I can't find out how long they built that model. Plus the gas tank is very, very rusty...does anyone have any tips on how to proceed? regards, MasterChief
tec2484 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Thats been talked about a few time on the board. here is a link to one of the threads http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=25376&SearchTerms=vinegar
firefoxz1 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I think 69' is it for the 727 but the 728 and then the 738 went to 74' ,I believe, and they are basicly the same.
mowerman1193 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 The 727 was only made for 1969..but the 728 is really the same tractor and was built from 1970-1973 (I think)..but alot of parts from 1964-1976 will interchange..such as the gas tank if you can't get yours fixed..
MasterChief Posted April 13, 2006 Author Posted April 13, 2006 Thanks so much everyone! Your guys and this web site amaze me.....ask a question....go to bed and PRESTO......answers everywhere....very cool! Thanks much and have a Blessed Easter folks. I'm going to go bungee my gas tank to my back wheel right now. v/b/r, MC
tracktor312 Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 If the tank has no holes just rusty inside what I did was use a little mineral spirits and some gravel fill it about 1/4 full with gravel and shake keep shaking to remove as much rust as possible wash and dry and get some gas tank coating and coat the inside. It has been ok for a couple of years now. LARRY
tracktor312 Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Hi guys I should have read the link by tec2484 he already said it all
KSever Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Dennis, When I redid my rusty tank on my 314 I picked up the product called Kreem. It is a 3 step process that cleans, rinses and then lines the inside of the tank. It's mainly used on Motorcycle tanks and readily available at most motorcycles shops. It's not priced too bad for the protection you get at around $30 and with the amount you get you can normally do two of these small fuel tanks. Here's a link to JC Whitney who also carries it if you want to read a little about it. Andrew Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Just go to NAPA and get their motorcycle tank repair kit. Follow the instructions, Puts a silver coating in and on the tank, WORKS GREAT, did my 727 tank 2years ago NO Problums. Could be the same as Eastwoods or someone else, Don't know. Just know NAPAs worked for me. If you don't coat the tank just a little moisture in the tank and you are back to square one. I do like the bungee trick. 10 points. Andrew
