AGCO918 Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Went to pick my boy up today after work from the local YMCA. Turned on the main street that goes to home and seen a John Deere 425 tractor on the road with a mini van in the yard smacked up pretty good. The tractor went out on the road would be my guess to turn around and the mini van hit the tractor on the side knocking of the hood and tearing up the side of the tractor pretty good. The mini van had the lower front clip under the bumper hanging down.Got me to think before i go on the road to turn around. You just cant be to Careful when being out on tractors & machinery.Just thought i Would let Everyone know to look & watch out for others when you are out doing things close to the road.Watch out for others & yourself.Hope nobody was hurt. msiebern Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Great advice! Living in the country so long I sometimes forget about the amount of traffic that is now going dwon our road. :( Another thing my dad instilled in my mind way back in time, always mow the first couple of rounds near the road blowing into the yard and not the road. Country yards have a way of gathering stones and rocks from the roadway and they can become a deadly missle to someone going by.
Roy Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Agco, you are absolutely right. The other day I saw a man on a two lane country road mowing along the road. Suspected he might pull something, and sure enough, he pulled out right in front of me. Luckily I was prepared and had time to slow down, swerve, and miss him. Mike, wish the folks around here would do that. Grass clipping on the road are like ice with a little rain. Thanks for a good safety tips.
