HubbardRA Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 The quality of a Simplicity, but the looks of a Deere. Do you think they are jealous?
jlasater Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Someone went to a lot of effort to make a nice looking tractory ugly. Orange (and yellow) is the way to go!
goatfarmer Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Those are the same people who build a streetrod car or truck, and put a smallblock Chevy in it.Just like 99% of the other streetrods you see....
BLT Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 If it was cheap enough and close, I'm not partial to colors. The grass don't care when you mow it or the dirt don't holler when you till it. Maybe some disgruntled person snuck a tractor to the Deere facility and had it painted. You Think?? Deere's main lawn and garden plant is about 40 miles west of Simplicity's in Horicon, WI. And there are other menbers here who painted their AC's and Simps other then the factory finish. Regardless of color, nothing leaves a mowed grass finish like the Simplicity line.
Kent Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Maybe because nothing runs like a Deere... That one is back runs really, really quiet.... ;)
Al Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Hi, They paint em Green and Yellow so they can hide in the grass while a REAL mower goes by. Al Eden
jlasater Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Haha Al. I remember being back in elementary school and having a friends dad tell me that when I talked about John Deere tractors. Specifically about Allis Chalmers tractors being bright orange.
Vinnie_A Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Sorry, Rather than try to make my 8 restored A/C & Simplicitys try to look like a John Deere I just bought 2 John Deers a 110 & a 112. If I need help can I post questions here at this site? I notice there are other members that also own these green things. Vinnie

Vinnie Only on one condition -- that no one catches you mowing your lawn with one when you own Simplicity machines... :D

BLT Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Has anyone ever painted their John Deere the Simplicity orange and white? I haven't. Maybe I should? Or does that bring out the verbal lynch gang? He, he, he.
MikeES Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 This green Simplicity was probably owned by a J. D. lawn a garden dealer and he wanted his lawn to look great with stripes.

The engine isn't what bothers me. It's when these same idiots take a beatuiful classic car or truck and chop it up and make it a moron-mobile. Another favorite of mine is those tin mufflers that make these little rice burner four bangers sound like a weed eater. Yeah...they give me goose bups when I hear them pull up next to me.:(!
ambler Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I like to dust off the rice burners with my 560SEL Sedan. There's no replacement for displacement.

The reason he would have painted it is because all his pals have green and yellow tractors. (Primary color) out here in the Northwest South of Salem. Oregon State University is Orange as a school Color. OSU Beavers. He was prolly sticking out like a ripe orange. Could be he was self conscious and didn't have enough slack left in his day for the jeers and sneers. Likely didn't have a desire to actually mow with a JD. lol I won't buy that one because i already have 4 non working units.
